About Me & Why I Started NOLA Cat Lounge
My name is Kelly, and I’ve always believed that cats have a special way of bringing comfort, joy, and calm into people’s lives. At the same time, I’ve always loved the vibrant culture of New Orleans—its music, art, food, and spirit of community. NOLA Cat Lounge was born out of the idea of combining those two passions: creating a space where cats and people can connect while celebrating the soul of this city.
The lounge is more than just a place to visit cats. It’s a safe, cozy environment designed to help rescue cats find loving forever homes while giving people a chance to slow down, relax, and share in the company of furry friends. Every detail—from the décor to the cat toys—carries a piece of New Orleans culture, whether it’s Mardi Gras colors, fleur-de-lis designs, or playful nods to local traditions.
Starting NOLA Cat Lounge is both a dream and a mission. My goal is to support animal adoption, promote responsible pet ownership, and create a unique community hub where locals and visitors alike can experience the warmth of cats in a setting that feels distinctly New Orleans.
Admission
Rules:
• Please do NOT run.
• Please ensure all doors are closed.
• Cats do not enjoy loud noises or unpredictable behavior. Please interact with our cats in a calm & quiet manner. NO screaming or chasing cats.
• Please do NOT disturb a sleeping kitty. You may gently pet them, but they occasionally need a break too.
• Please do NOT pick up the cats. Cats will warm up easier to you if you’re seated.
• Please sanitize your hands on your way into the cat lounge & on your way out of the cat lounge. In addition, a hand-washing sink is available for your convenience in the restroom.
• Only Do NOT feed the cats any human food or drink. All drinks must have a lid.
• Feel free to take pictures, but NO flash please.
Failure to follow these rules will result in removal from the premises.
